needle pullers

Yesterday when I was moving some furniture and straightening out the miscellaneous things for stitching, I found a forgotten needle puller

-- those little round bumpy rubber discs. Well, it crumbled into bits! As it happens, I am a bit of a packrat, and had purchased new shower curtain liners a week ago, and the packages had small samples of the plastic on the outside of the packages so you could feel the texture and weight without opening the packages. And I stuck them in my kitchen "miscellaneous junk" drawer. Well, guess what -- they are perfect little needle pullers!

Like it! Like it a lot.

I use those little rubber finger cots for the same job. Their only problem is that they look positively obsene in their natural state.

My DH calls them prophylactics for My Little Pony!

OMG, Nel! You really should warn us when you're going to do that. Then I could go ahead and sit on the floor before reading so that I don't fall out of my chair laughing.

Gotta love ya, Sunny

When I started quilting DH brought me home a pair of 'MIT' pliers. They are spring loaded to be in the open position when not in use so you squeeze the handles when you want them to grip something. They are small and wonderful. After just finishing the last quilt using a

20 wt., 3 ply variegated thread to hand quilt they were a god-send. Even with them my fingers still resemble raw hamburger. At least they are now on the mend since the quilt is DONE and ready for delivery next month.

I too have a lovely set of real tools: needle nose pliers, whatever they call the ones that cut and another one that doesn't come to me right now. They are 'jewelers' tools; were right pricey and have been just wonderful for pulling needles from impossible jams. The other best part is they have soft padded pink handles. I share them but do a low growl when I see them borrowed. The other funny real tool here is my SHARP screwdriver. We took a short kinda wide screwdriver and adjusted the blade to really, really sharp. Grand for hammering through a tough buttonhole. One day we'll get brave like Leslie and begin refining the SM feet. Polly

I think your sharp wide screwdriver is the same as a chisel? That would have been the choice for lazy me.

Dremel tools do a fine job of 'adjusting' things like sm feet. And grinding down doggy fingernails, too.
