Needs some help

Folks, In the past, I've come to this group for ideas for Christmas for my bride and projects for my bride and younger daughter to do together. I hope I've returned in kind, with the Christmas list project, something you can hand to your spouses/significant others. I come to you today with another request. As many of you know, I lost my older daughter last year, 6 days after her wedding. One of the major contributing factors was something called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome or EDS. This silent killer also took her mother when my daughter was 4 days old. There is no treatment or cure for EDS, but there is a dedicated bunch of folks working on that. We need some bucks to get a strain of mice that have EDS to do the research. There is a way that you, specifically you who are also on Facebook can help, free of charge. Chase Community Bank is giving out 5 million dollars to local charities. To determine which charities get the money, Chase is asking for votes on Facebook. Its not a winner take all system, i.e.

1st place gets it all. Rather its graduated, 1st gets the most. If you are on Facebook, please go an vote for EDS Today on the Chase Community Giving site.

I'm asking not for me. It won't help my family anymore. We've lost all that we can to EDS. However, there are thosands of other parents out with children at risk. Please help. It only takes a couple of minutes. Frank Reid

By the way, you get 20 individual votes so you can vote for a bunch of other charities too. One of them may be able to get some of these funds. I just did a search on the Chase Community Giving Facebook page and there are over 20 quilt related charities there. Please vote for EDS Today and some of these other charities. Frank Reid

Thanks to all that voted for this. I'm going to be on the local radio show (Tom Becka on KFAB in Omaha) on Friday at 5:20 local. I'm challenging everyone to get out and vote for this.

If we can get enough votes for EDS Today to get the 100,000 dollars, I will go on the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge here in Omaha, wearing chest waders, a penquin hat, carrying a teddy bear and sing "I'm a Little Teapot." This WILL be posted to youtube. Cheers Frank Reid

Thanks to all that voted. We ended up in 9th place and recieved $20,000 USD. We didn't get to the 100K mark so no singing on the bridge. However, 20K is more than we started with. We will find a cure, it will just take us a bit longer. Again, thank you all. Frank Reid
