Hi Guys, Well, I have ONE photo of the finished White Silk Quilt up at Webshots. It's not a very good photo -- I'm doing the holding and DH is doing the picture taking and HE decided that a daytime photo inside at his office would work. NOT!!!! I wanted to go outside in the natural light and he couldn't be bothered. He WILL be bothered tomorrow when he has to take the photos over again! I'll try to get some close ups of all that *($(*$*%#$ silver piping, the tassels on the four corners and the "almost" continuous line quilting pattern (designed it myself, I did) inside the pieced blocks. This is *definitely* an art quilt -- I doubt if anyone in their right mind would actually USE this thing. And if they did I would likely draw and quarter them -- LOL. Oh, the finished size is about 30" x 70" and the pieced blocks are about 12" square. I had initially planned on making it a bit wider but once I started working all those different silks I went to plan "B" -- LOLOL. I cut my initial blocks of silk about 16" assuming that they would end up 14" square. That didn't happen because several of the lightweight silks were all wonky and wriggly and would NOT cooperate. By the time I squared up the Stack & Slash blocks, I was lucky to get them 12" square!!! Never dawned on me until I was all finished that I could have used some spray starch on those fabrics to keep them a bit more manageable. Now I remember why I much prefer to work with dupioni when dealing with silk -- LOLOL! My DNiece (the quilt recipient) has a new, much bigger duplex apartment with a good sized bedroom. She wants to get some sort of artsy-fartsy (she DOES live on the border of Hollywood & Beverly Hills) slipper bench for the end of the bed and plans on artfully draping the quilt over the bench. As long as she like the quilt, I will be happy. I'm even happier that the blasted thing is completed -- LOLOL! Photos are in the QUILTS album -- Webshots link is in my siggy line. CiaoMeow >^;;^<
