"Sunbonnet Girls" by Arline Buntley in about 1935. Not just your ordinary Sunbonnet. THis one has silk ribbon bonnet bows and French lace trim on her sleeves and bloomers and just a little hand embroidery in her bouquets. "

Enjoy the pics! jennellh

Thank you, Louise. 'Sunbonnet Girls' had been calling to me for years; I'm so happy to have it ready for a Happy Dance. Here's a good reason to always wash a quilt before you call it done. I had missed stitching the top of one of the arms. Wouldn't a sweet baby have had a good time poking a tiny finger into that opening until all the stitching came undone? The ribbons are double-hemmed since I'm expecting they'll get chewed and tugged on . . . at least that's the plan. Polly

Thanks very much for this, Jenn. Polly, what a simply adorable quilt - linings to the dresses and all. I know you enjoy putting your own touches on things and this is especially successful (not that I don't love chenille caterpillars, too!). Thank goodness for this marvellous piece of technology that enables us all to share and see the wonders we all create. .

I would roll it round something soft (like a draught excluder) - right side *outside, and cover with washed cotton. .. In message , Polly Esther writes

Hi Polly, Love your quilts! I've a question, if you don't mind.. (and apologies for hijacking the thread) How do you make the tilty blocks in your Jumping Frogs quilt? It's really cool! (well, they all are, but you know what I mean..) Thanks in advance! :D //Mary/mgl

We may have just a little language barrier here - I thought a draught was a beer. Polly

You just might live to see great grandchildren; meanwhile, I recommend you get going with some sweet things for a grand who may only, just now, be a twinkle in God's eyes. Polly

3 ( Brit. draught) a current of cool air in a room or other confined space : heavy curtains at the windows cut out drafts.

Polly, your quilts are so cute! I love the Sunbonnet Sue's and had to go back through all the others too!

Waaah! Alice, don't remind me. The 'Puss in Bonnets' is the one where the backing bled and turned the whole quilt a dreary dull pink. Lesson Learned. Indeed, yes. When somebody asks, "How long did it take you to make that quilt?", I think we should include the decades of stumbles along the way. Polly

It is also the wind coming under the door! (As opposed to the draft of a design!) . In message , Polly Esther writes

Oh wow, Polly, what a gorgeous quilt! You have taken Sunbonnet Sue to entirely new heights. So gorgeous, and the little skirts billowing in the breeze --- the hand work is precious. Just gorgeous.

Thank you so much, Taria. 3 babies? Hmmmm. Maybe I'd better begin one with big red fire trucks. Do little boys still love fire trucks? Polly

Polly's quilt is really of labour of love. But as for grandchildren, my daughter is the only granddaughter for my parents and was born first, the next 5 were all boys! And DD had a little boy too so someone else must be getting the girls!

LOL. You got me, Taria. I reckon the great grandboy quilt will have to have Three firetrucks. Polly "Taria" wrote > Yep, nephew, son and then finally dd.
