Not Connecting to Connecting Threads

Is it just me, or has Connecting Threads become less useful? I used to buy rulers and books from them, but lately I find I can get all that and much more a lot cheaper elsewhere, whether it's with a Joann's 50% off coupon or online at a variety of sites. I've never found their fabric selection to be noteworthy. Or am I, heaven forbid, missing some great shopping experience that only they offer but that my aging eyes can't see? ;-)

I just got their catalog and ordered some fabric. It was kind of expensive but just what I needed for these Christmas things I'm making. Of course Christmas fabric isn't on sale around here yet. I've been ordering it snail mail, or buying it on e-bay.

Their fabric usually doesn't appeal to me too much, but I've ordered a fair number of notions and books from them. Their best feature, IMHO, is the ability to browse through the *inside* of the books they have for sale before you order them. They ship promptly, and the one time I had to exchange something I had no problem.

Yeah, that's true about browsing their books. I notice Amazon now has that feature on some of theirs..wonder if they stole the idea! And the few times I"ve ordered from them they've certainly been very decent to deal with. I should remember that...just like I oughta remember to sign my posts!

Unfortunately, they no longer ship international, so my one purchase from them will be my only one!

Yes, but I bet you could work a deal with some kindly RCTQer to accept your purchase and forward it on.....

I'm listening...!

Actually, what I *really need* is someone who lives within a stones throw of Keepsake Quilting, as the next order I want to put in there is really going to need some creative packing to get it across the pond as a gift rather than a commercial order!

"Nice" is exactly it! I once phoned them to ask why my order (placed online) hadn't arrived. The very kind lady on the phone with me explained that there must have been a glitch and that they'd already sold the last copy of the book I'd wanted. However, then she offered to go to their "real" shop and see if there might be a copy there. I was placed on hold very briefly, and she came back and informed me that there was only *one* remaining copy and that it was slightly damaged (a corner bent). The next words out of her mouth were that she'd knock a significant chunk off the price if I didn't mind taking this copy! :)

It's more likely they stole it from Amazon. Amazon has always had inside information on books if it is available to them. It's my understanding that the publisher has to agree to it.
