Oh, my GOOSH words can not cover this

About 9 yrs ago I was part of RCTQ. Some how we begin sending squishes. Well one of the ladies choose me and started sending me FQ's from all over the US. So I saved them for quite some time. In the meantime we began talking outside of RCTQ. Found out we were both surrogate mothers so that bound us even more. Since then we always stay in touch with each other. Eventually I decided on a pattern and made the squares using a rail fence type block. This was my first ever pieced quilt. I had done all panel/baby quilts to this point. So I was very naive in a lot of things like not buying cheap, cheap fabric and making sure your seams all lay on way type of thing. I put it together with cheap fabric for sashing and boarders. Friend had recently bought a long arm and needed some practice. So I boxed up top and sent it to her. Expecting her to practice on it and send it back. After all she started it so it seemed fitting for her to finish it. No matter the pattern, design or mistakes I would have loved it.

Anyways she took the whole quilt apart. Got rid of my cheap fabric. Fixed all my mistakes. Added purple squares a new boarder and quilted it. Although it doesn't sound like much I know this was a HUGE job for her. Meantime I had been emailing her. Anytime I mention the quilt she would not reply to me. I told her I had no time frame and it had been over a year. But I also knew her life has been really busy so I didn't want to pressure her. Last week a box arrived in the mail, it was my quilt. I was so shocked! It took me days even to write her an email thanking her because she went so above and beyond to make this right I can not say enough. And I'm totally in love with this quilt!! I might have to be buried in this quilt! So pics are posted on my webshots under Quilts Done album. Should be the first 3 pics. Thanx for reading Joanna Alberta

Wow, how very wonderful for you! I looked it over and I totally love what she did. It's queen size? You can use it ALL the time! Again, how very, very wonderful.

That may be one of the most beautiful quilts I've ever seen. The love just shines through. What a wonderful gift, first the friendship and then the quilt. Life is sweet when we have friends to share it.

It's beautiful, and to know the "rest of the story" makes it even more so. You have a really terrific friend!

Joanna, I can see why you were blown away. That quilt is simply stunning, and your RTCQ/surrogate friend did indeed go beyond the call of duty. Totally awesome and very touching!

Must run. I've promised myself some quilting time today. As much as I love quilting, I find it very easy to sit here and read RTCQ, get inspired and dream of all the many quilts I want to make. Unfortunately, they don't get done that way.

I want to thank you for sharing both an inspiring story and an inspiring quilt.

Best regards, Michelle in NV
