Oops! Finished early ...

I was planning to finish up a baby quilt tomorrow on National Quilting Day, but I got it done today instead. Quilted, bound, washed and labeled. Now I just need to mail it off -- why can't I email it? That would be so much easier! ;)

This was a mystery quilt published by Carol Doak on her Yahoo group two years ago. I made the top then, but I didn't get it quilted until this baby was born. I've posted pics at .

Ooh, that's yummy!

How nice that an opportunity came up for you to use it for such a good reason! I love that border fabric!

(I'm also relieved to see that my current baby quilt is not alone in being bright and dark!!) . In message , Sandy writes

That's lovely! And I like that it has "real" colours and contrast; everything for babies does NOT have to be pastels!!!

I know why you can't mail it; you need some time to enjoy it yourself. Not too long, of course, but just a while to admire this beauty. I love the way you quilted the feathers. Delightful. Polly

Thanks, Erin. That's one reason why I decided to use this as a baby quilt -- lots of color, especially in the border fabric. :)

Thanks, Polly. I thought these feathers might feel a bit more "playful" than the more formal ones on the daffodil I recently completed. :)

Thanks, Pat! :) No, the more I read/hear about babies, the more I think we need to go much brighter and more "contrasty" for them.

OH!!! That is delightful!! I love Carol Doak stars. Not that I can make them, mind you, but I love to look at them. And I'm sure the new baby girl will like them as well.

Thanks, TerriLee. :) I not only love Carol's stars, but I love Lemoyne stars, so this was a double winner for me.

Oh, Sandy, your quilting is gorgeous! Starlight is great, but I am totally head-over-heels for Spiked Desert Star!

I am in awe.

Thanks, Heidi! That was a fun one to quilt, though not quite as much fun to piece. LOL!

Fantastic, Sandy!! It really wasn't 'finished early' because it was already the March 21 (Quilting Day) Downunder! ;p ....... PAT in Virginia
