Opinions please

I have pieced an Irish Chain Baby Quilt in Batiks. Its the first 2 pictures in the album. I wanted to applique a sheep in the "blank" squares. I have placed 1 in the second picture. Do you think that it will be too busy, or appropiate, as the BG has feet batik. your opinions as usual would be appreciated. TIA

I think that the sheep are cute. I think that they should come to graze on your quilt

OH YES -- the sheep looks great and adds a bit of "pop" to the quilt. Can you make them in different poses? Not sure it would look as nice if you only used one pose. If you can only use one pose, then you might want to leave a few of the "blank" squares without them -- or not, whatever you prefer. But do add at least a few of the little darlings :-). When I first read your post -- I thought... "I don't think I would do it...." == before I even looked. But now that I've looked -- I love'em! I agree... I probably wouldn't do one in every block -- maybe about 2/3 - 3/4 of them.

Lucky little one!

Agree with Kate; first thought 'I wouldn't do it', then saw that precious sheep and decided I certainly would. He is adorable. Did you really look at the batik? It has baby footprints in it. How precious. Polly

Yes, yes, yes! That's a gorgeous quilt, but I think the sheep add a lot to it -- especially as it's for a baby. :)

I think a couple more sheep would be delightful. It is a baby quilt after all!

Let us see what you finally decide.

Happy quilting,

Thankyou everyone. Yes I did use the little foot print Batik I had in my stash and wanted a reason to use it, that was why I was nt sure if the sheep would be OK. I will do sheep now and make them pose differently I hope. Will postwhen I am done.

Thanks Roberta. That's what I was afraid of, but have been upstairs all evening and made and appliquéd just 3 of them. It looks kind of OK. I wish I had thought of socks that would have related to the tiny feet. I am piecing the back and will then post.Don't know why I am worrying , it is only for a baby and sure he wont mind.Lol.

Estelle,

It's a delightful quilt--sheep or no sheep. The baby feet on the fabric are soooo cute. I'm sure your sheep will be fabulous.

Love it and the baby feet! But I like all that you have posted up there. My other favorite on that page is your dragonfly. Keep up the good work. Kris
