I'll bet you anything they used gentian violet - it dyes EVERYTHING it touches. It's sometimes used for thrush in breastfeeding mom/baby pairs. I had just seen this on Yahoo and posted the link on misc.kids.breastfeeding. :)

THAT is the most BEEAUTIFUL polar bear I have ever seen!

OK, maybe they're all naturally beautiful, but that purple guy sure is cute!

I just saw the picture after following the link from mkb, and I'd have to agree that it must be gentian violet. I can vouch for how much it stains everything, and that looks like the same exact shade of purple that my little guys tongue has been lately. Its a fabulous photo..very cute :-)

How embarrassing. Poor bear, he/she will never live it down.

Now there's a fashion statement! Beautiful color -think it works on humans? But I must point out that for someone whose signature line pleads slow quilting skills as an excuse for begging, you seem to have WAY too much time on your hands ;-) Roberta in D

How easily the old standard is adapted:

I've never seen a purple bear. I never hope to see one, But this I'll tell you anywhere: I'd rather see than be one.

Y'all may also enjoy this:
