OT: A sewing tote for the guys.

Ok. Now admit it guys. You feel just a little bit uncomfortable coming into the office, and walking past the water cooler, carrying that Longaberger Basket with the lovely Laura Ashley Paisley print liner with all your traveling sewing stuff. I know, this is the new century, and people are supposed to do what ever they want without fear of getting those "looks". Well all your problems are solved. I have created just the thing for those, "Oh so difficult" situations. It is the Working Mans, He Man Lunch Pail/ Sewing Accessory Box. Patterned after those ubiquitous black lunch pails that you see all the raw boned construction workers carrying. Now you can carry all your embroidery and sewing supplies and only you will know what is inside. Finally you can rest easy on the commuter train or bus and not get any of "Those Looks" from the other passengers. Here are the pictures you have been waiting for. Life is good once again. The first photo shows the "lunch Pail in stealth mode.

The second picture shows the secret inner workings of the bag. The upper part which would normally house a thermos bottle is a zippered storage area for threads and other items. The front and sides of the lower, or main compartment have storage pockets around the inside of the front and sides.

Is this really "for the guys"? I like it!

It is for anybody. I was just having a little fun with the stereotyping that sometimes goes along with doing something that is outside the gender specific norm. I thought I would do this one for myself, and use the pattern for a series of purses for my wife and a couple of other gals that I sew for. John

Howdy!

I have a soft tackle box & the old camera bag w/ it's many compartments, which are acceptable containers for anyone to carry into just about any situation. Dark green is such a neutral color. Room for lunch, too. No snickers, yet... .

Dang, Sandy, those look cool! One of those would make a good range bag for my shooting days ;) I transport my hand projects and crochet work to work in a pocket of my briefcase.

Very clever John. Some of the quilters I know use the tool boxes on wheels that you can pick up at Home Depot or Lowes. They have several tiers & I think one friend even fits her featherweight in the largest of the boxes. My husband keeps suggesting I buy one, but not until they make one in pink or purple or lime green!!

Love the bag.

Yes, I use bags and boxes from the DIY store. They seem to be so much more rigid, and have more pockets.

And I quite like yellow and black.

That paint works very well. And, I love tool boxes. I have one with electrical stuff (TV, computer, telephone, lamp, sewing machine), one with tole painting gear, one with "tools", and the new yellow one with pockets around the outside that Jim bought me for my "sewing gear". I have been using clear fishing tackle/lure boxes for thread, and SM feet and needles. Bonnie, in Middletown, VA
