OT: and not ... meeting Donna and her DH

We're home now, and the bag is unpacked and the stitching picked up and life goes back to routine. The highlight of the trip to Seattle had to be our evening with Donna and John. They are incredibly gracious and welcoming hosts. And John grills a mean steak. I love meeting RCTQ friends face to face. Looking forward to catching up with TerriLee and ... who knows? As many people as possible. :)

The doctor left me once again pleased and hopeful. Another pill to try. More info about the diet and a discovery. Now that I've adhered to the diet for a month, it's time for 'challenges' with the forbidden food. Zounds! Catsup, marinara, salsa and all things tomato are off my diet permanently. Who knew? I never would have guessed that a bowl of chili with a side of fries and ketchup were the cause of my aching wrists, swollen fingers, painful ankles and ...

So on we go. I'm feeling ready for the next phase. We had so much fun in Seattle. The Seattle Art Museum has a textiles exhibit that was amazing. And in another part of the museum was a quilt that plays with angles, perspective and distance. Just gorgeous. So much inspiration everywhere. We will go back and spend more time just looking and sketching and thinking. A Picasso exhibit is planned for October and we will go for that.

All in all very much a vacation that was fun and restful and relaxing. Yay! Now, back to stitching.

So glad you had a good time. And glad too that you have 'discovered' what is causing your pains.

Onwards and upwards, and plenty of you-time timetabled into your schedule.

Take care, Nel

Meeting new people is always a pleasure especially if you feel like you already know them. Thanks for the visit Sunny and DH. As Miss Sairey used to say, "The hostel is always open". Donna in Bellevue

Apparently this diet is cutting-edge research into causes of inflammation -- the cause (they are discovering) of so much of what ails us. I'm hoping that in time, if I adhere to the diet and learn more about my trigger foods, I can improve the trigeminal pain. So far, the good effect is in my joints. I'm hoping it will make my soon- to-begin wean off prednisone easier. And I'm hoping the new pill will address my face pain. Wheeeee! Possibilities.

Marion has treated people with that problem. The good news is that you know very quickly if nightshades are responsible - symptoms will abate in a couple of days. The bad news is that nightshades are in all sorts of processed foods: you have to be suspicious of anything savoury that comes out of a tin, jar or packet.

You may also have to make sure you keep well clear of tobacco smoke (tobacco is a plant in the same family).
