OT: Are we all still alive, housed and uninjured?

I'm aghast at the devastation caused by tornadoes yesterday. I have lived through a few -- in cellars, huddled in a windowless hallway under mattresses, in the basement of a school that a few years later would crumble and fall of its own volition. I once saw Hamburg, Arkansas cut by two tornadoes that made a huge, deadly X across the city. But this ... this is something new and awful. I pray for the survivors and for those beyond human help. These swarm tornadoes are growing worse and worse. It's a fearful time.

Mississippi is needing a miracle. There are 3 still missing. We are praying and scrambling to get food, formula, diapers and clothing to lots of needy babies who need stuff NOW ( or they yell at you). The churches and other agencies are going full speed to get all the aid we can to them - but, oh please, how wonderful it would be if the 3 missing are found alive and well. Pray with us. Polly

I saw the news of the tornados this morning, right after the wedding piece.

300 reported dead, lets hope there are no more. Such dévastation is hard for me to imagine.

Thinking of you all

Polly, I sent you baby things after the hurricane. I can send more! What is needed? Praying for those three missing persons that they are found alive and well.

Light-weight blankets, clothing, diapers and certainly: quilts. A quilt just may be the only soft clean happy to place a baby in a shelter - just guessing, the shelters are places like the National Guard Armory and the high school basketball court and not much in the way of baby beds. A heart squeeze - I was looking online for Smithville MS relief - and, of all things, my first hit was the Smithville MS relief for tsunami survivors project. Little did they know. The needy baby chapter closest to Smithville is:

Polly, I'll get started working on some toddler sized quilts and blankets. I've got a lot of fleece and even if I can't get quilt tops finished quickly, I can always stitch a bright piece of fabric to a cozy piece of fleece.
