OT: Asking for "GOOD STUFF" for DSis

So, DSis phones me on Friday evening (26 Feb)-- two days before the cruise I took her on -- to tell me that the UPS delivery truck at work ran into her car while it was parked and totaled it! Now remember that this poor woman works at Dillard's selling stuff and is lucky to get all of her bills paid each month. This accident was totally the fault of the UPS driver. Of course, DSis will only get about $2,000 for her car because, while it was in excellent working order (proven by all of the receipts she has for car stuff), it still had about 111,000 miles on it and was probably about 10 years old (I think). VBS, DSis has NO IDEA how she will be able to afford another car on what she makes each month. So I am asking all of you to send just a tiny little spark of "good stuff" into the universe to help her manage to buy some sort of vehicle. I'm hoping that someone in her congregation will either have or know of someone who has some sort of old car that works OK and is willing to sell it for dirt cheap. She NEVER ask for help, always manages on her own and really, truly deserves just a little good luck this time round! Thanks & CiaoMeow >^;;^<

that sucks!! if t'were me, i'd write a letter to UPS and the driver explaining how hard it is going to be to get another car now considering her circumstances. tell them how well she looked after her car. tell them she has never had an accident in the car. tell them she works hard and is makes ends meet only just. tell them how long it is likely to take her to save enough to find another car as good as her little old car was before their driver totalled it while parked outside your workplace. tell them how little her insurance is paying out on it. basically just tell them all you've just told us. then add that it is really disappointing that they dont take responsibility for the damage caused by their drivers to a hard working person.

better yet you should write to them as her friend.

i'd be kick'n some butt if only to see if they give a damn about their bad drivers and the hardship they inflict on innocent people by their negligen driving. they might well ignore you, then again they might not. tis worth a bit of time constructing a good letter. j.
