OT: Bathroom remodel update

Christmas break and all is busy as usual non-holiday-wise. You didn't think that I could just sit and relax, did you? I have been hand-sewing my applique baltimore blocks in the evening while watching Doogie Howser. How's that for a throwback in time.

Anyways, we have made great strides on the remodel. About three weeks ago we got the drywall done, primed, textured, primed and painted. In the midst of our first big snow-storms we headed to Lowe's and got cabinets for above the Washer and Dryer and for the end wall. All up and installed. Back again for the vanity, a station wagon can only hold so much and we really didn't want to look like the Beverly Hillbillies. Bert had pulled up the linoleum and much of the backing stayed along with the glue, wax and other crud. He spent over a week scraping the entire floor down to the cement with a razor blade device. Needed to do so for the tile cement to adhere. And that is what I did today. Tiled, for over twelve hours. It's all done though. Took so long because I am picky, not totally sure what I am doing, and just slow at doing it. It looks great though. Will grout day after tomorrow, treat the next day, Thursday hopefully put in vanity and sink and toilet and except for the shower, it will be done. Pictures promised then.

I'm exhausted, my back is killing me from bending over all day so I am going to get a back rub and then off to bed.

Hope your holidays have been good and safe and stay that way.

Sounds like your home remodel project has moved right along. :-) I can sympathize with the tiling. We are tiling our entire house except for two bedrooms. We were more fortunate than you and Bert in regard to the vinyl flooring though. The multiset we bought to glue the tiles down adheres to vinyl as well as concrete. Didn't have to take it up. No matter what though, the labor is back-breaking. We started last year--in September 2008. We're probably 3/4 done. (Except for the need for breaks after each room, we probably could have been done.) Anyway, we're hoping to have it all completed before we reach the 2 year mark! ;-)

Can't wait for the pics!

Howdy!

You're going to need a vacation after all this fun, Steven.

Are you putting a quilt on the wall in this fine room? Seems only fair.

Good luck; take the Aleve. Been there, done that, found other ways to enjoy the Christmas hols. ;-D

Sounds marvelous.

When Himself tiled the bathroom walls round the bath/shower, we discovered why no-one had done so before... The walls are a long way off straight and the corner only looks like a right angle if you have a severe astigmatism! They came off again the first time. There was a lot more tile trimming than we had anticipated. The house was built in

1928.

We put vinyl on the floor. Much easier!

Tiling the kitchen and the conservatory sink surrounds were much easier. At least the new conservatory walls and plaster are reasonably straight.
