OT but not really new part time job? [kinda long]

So, here I go trundling off to Michaels Craft Store today. Last day of their coupon, you know I just have to find something there! Dragged along a jigsaw puzzle that I had done over 15 yrs ago that was in a frame that needed some "freshening up". Several weeks ago I had stopped by the framing dept and spoke to the manager there who said she would help me and was interested to see the jigsaw puzzle. Up to now it has been shielded by a layer of clear contact paper film.

Lo! and behold this gal Krista is there again today. She remembered me, and so I bring in the framed puzzle. We work on it, and put in glass using the same frame. In between I am giving out [almost unsolicited] suggestions to a lady custom framing some prints. Gently put, I am not shy about working with color, and showing how things will muddy or brighten a piece.

Long story short, I walked out with an application to go to work part- time in the framing department!! They are looking for a couple part- timers and that is something I would enjoy doing. Won't get to meet as many single guys doing that, but there is an employee discount. Expecting a call Mon or Tues from store manager to set up for an interview. It would be a nice contrast to my full-time job!

Oh, and we re-set the puzzle onto acid free mat board, under glass, using my original frame. It looks really cool!

Ginger in CA gee, guess I should go to the 12-Step program from the other post, right?

ROFL -- Dear Ginger, you are a true talent! Only an artist goes to buy something and ends up owning the store. Ok, not exactly owning -- yet. But you get the drift. And the part time job.

Trust your instincts.... sometimes these serendipity gifts can open doors that we never even saw before.

Love, Sunny

I don't know if it a "done deal" until an interview, but the idea of doing something with my hands for a few hours a week like that appeals to me. In my job, the interaction with the public/lawyers is due to no one really wanted to be there. Working at Michaels, it would be because people want to be there, si the contrast would be welcome.
