Hiya folks, I have good news and bad news on the academic front - the University of Strathclyde has offered me a place on the one-year intensive Russian language course.. the bad news is that even though I am a permanent UK resident (and have been for 8 years) and that I pay Home fees at Dundee University (and have for 2 years) Strathclyde wants me to pay the £7,000 overseas rate vs the £3,000 Home rate. However, I have phoned the bank to ask for a loan because I really want to do this course, even if I have a fight on my hands regarding the fee. I need a Glaswegian person to send me a Glasgow paper - what I'd like to do is stay in Glasgow during the week, perhaps as a lodger in an OAP's home or some such thing, and come home over the weekend to work at Tesco and see Mat and Sasha (QI). The course runs Oct-May and there is a month off at Christmas and similar at Easter, so it's not so bad as some courses.... I worked it out and it will cost the same to commute daily from Dundee as it would to rent a place in Glasgow during the week and I need to work in order to fund the rent/trainfare. If you could send me a paper, then I could try and locate someone who has a room to rent, and compare it to the prices in Dundee and so forth. Thanks!
