Hej... just got an update on my friend Carol from her DH.... Prayers are still needed if and when you get a chance! the rest of this is sniped and amended from her DH's note....
They're back from the mountains to the heat and humidity. Carol had a relatively enjoyable time there but had little energy. Her DH helps a lot at the Highland Games there, so they had a golf cart all week to help get place to place! I am certain that was a Godsend. When she went for her next chemo appointment on Monday they found her counts have fallen even more so she did not get chemo again. Procrit is not helping very quickly! The big disappointment Monday was that her echocardiogram that was done the day before they left for vacation showed that the chemo she's had has affected her heart function in a negative way. It doesn't pump as efficiently so that also adds to her fatigue. The bad news is that she will not get the study drug they were hoping so much for her to get. It also is cardiotoxic and would further damage her heart. She will remain in the study and be followed very closely.
Her mood is what you might expect but she is tough and is working. We thank you all for all the support, prayers, and wishes (and the help with her HUG)!
