OT: cocktail wieners in slow cooker

Hi all,

Can anyone help me with a trusted recipe for (cocktail) wieners in slow cooker/crock pot?

I'm looking for something with just the wieners in a sauce (not to wrap in bacon or whatever). To serve to both kids and adults.

I see lots of recipes online involving grape jelly, but that is not available here. Some initial prep is okay, but so is "toss this in" :-)

Thanks!

Hmmm, I'm not sure about the slow cooker (don't know what that is), but why don't you just knock up a sauce made of 'pomodori passati', onions and various herbs? You could fry the onions in an extra dish, add the 'pp' and the herbs, and then put everything into the slow cooker and add the wieners. Just my 2 cents...

I'm thinking you can safely substitute the 'grape' jelly. The goal is just a sweet/sour combination. Apple jelly, currant jelly or crushed pineapple will work just as well. I checked a few recipes and see that some toss in a tablespoon of horseradish or chili powder but I'm thinking that might be too spicy for little folks. Polly

Well, apple jelly is easily available here. Might even just ask my Mum if she has any left from last year, before she gets to this year's apples.

Currant jelly too (although not from my Mum!)

The wieners would taste good in spaghetti sauce and cooked in a crock pot. Barbara in SC
