OT Da weather

Okay. We have had about 5 inches of rain here at my house in last 24 hours. Snow level is down to 1000' and some was reported at 700'. More rain and thunderstorms coming in tomorrow through next Tues or Wed.The roads are all closed in the area where my quilt retreat was last weekend. Remember this whole area had devastating fires in the last 8 months. Rivers flowing very high. Rockslides, mudslides, debris laden run-off. And, it is cold.

Ah, Mother Nature really strutting her stuff this season. Just up the highway is a little beach town where a hillside gave 'way 4 yrs ago in the rain, burying 10 houses and killing several. They are recommending evacuation but the residents will not leave. If there is a slide, it will come down and across the main artery between Los Angeles and the central coast.

Hope everyone is safe and sound. DH and I are still amazed that the week we chose to be in California was one filled with clear skies and sunshine, surrounded by rain and snow! We had heavy rain overnight on Tuesday 5+inches in under 8 hours! City Hall and fire station in town were flooded. DH had some washouts on the garden railway, and had to re-ballast all the track on Wednesday. It is nice to see the lake level come up a bit! I never mind rain - good quilting weather.
