Well, DGD was released from hospital and is expected to fully recover. There are still some slight concerns with her lungs, but they are steadily improving, some concern with one arm as the swelling is not receding as they would like, and they have determined that she now has a leaky heart valve, which they are going to check again in a month, as they say this will often happen when a child is really ill and usually heals itself.
So, she has done well. Only a week and a half in hospital. Mom says she is going to school tomorrow. ??? I know I wouldn't be sending her. Even if she is feeling pretty good I'd be worried about her immune system being weak and ALL those germs that kids spread around. As step-mom/grandma, some times it is hard to keep my mouth shut. I guess the doctors told DD to let DGD do whatever she felt up to, but not to push it.
