OT: DS2's move finished and successful!

The move went extremely well. Two of DS2's friends from his game club arrived the night we picked up the truck, and in just over 2 hours, everything was loaded! Saturday morning we arrived at his new apartment building where his fiancee, her Dad and older sister were waiting. First they had to have an apartment inspection with the building super, then sign the lease. Then before any unloading began, DS2 got down on one knee and presented his love with her engagement ring! I think he was surprised when they opened the back of the truck. We had followed it along the highway, and watched it bounce along for over 4 hours. When they opened the back, not an item had shifted (DH is a good loader!). With extra help, everything from the truck and our van was in the apartment in about 3 hours, including the short break for an early sandwich and drinks to keep everyone's strength up! Next the two Dads installed the air conditioner, and thanks to the database DS2 made while he was packing, we located some much needed items. By the time we called it quits for the day, their bed was set up, with curtains hung in the bedroom, and the shower curtain was in place. Day two, the girls unpacked pantry items, along with some more kitchen boxes, while the boys assembled a lovely microwave cabinet. After a quick lunch, we headed out to pick up some necessary items - extra towel bar, waste paper baskets, shelf unit for the storage room etc., followed by a two cart full shopping trip to the grocery store! While the girls unpacked the groceries, the guys installed the vertical blinds for the patio door. Finally on Monday morning, we found a glass shop that would make a new glass door for one of DS2's cabinets. It was fine when packed 3 years ago, but sometime between then and now...... We managed to find a shop near their apartment, as they have no car. When we arrived at their place, I spent some time checking to see if I could alter two lovely evening type dresses for my future DIL while the guys hung the final blind in the second bedroom/future office. The only window they need to find something for, is the small one in the dining area, where the air conditioner is installed. Their apartment faces north west, so they only get a bit of sun in the late afternoon. They have a view of a lovely local park, and the breeze seemed to keep the apartment cooler, even on the hot move-in day, when we were all toting boxes! By 11am, DH & I were on our way home! Talking to the happy couple this morning, and they spent the rest of yesterday unpacking all the kitchen boxes. They managed to find homes for everything, but said they'll be re-arranging things for a while, until it feels right! Our house looks and feels empty today - but that is a good thing. Until DS2 began packing, I hadn't realized how much of his stuff had migrated into almost every room. We are really excited to see him happily on the way to the next stage of his life. They plan to get married next spring, but just a small family civil ceremony. Future DIL asked me if I'd help her with a dress, so we might be coming home from Florida early next year!
