OT from Piggie

Just a quick note to say why I'm mostly invisible.....

Reading and posting from flat in bed ain't easy. Sciatica doctor has me confined to bed; maybe we'll make some inroads on this, but I'm bored brainless in the process.

But typing when you ain't supposed to be sitting up ain't easy....and sewing in this position is downright impossible. I brought a baby quilt I'm working on up to bed with me, but that was clearly wild optimism; I can't quilt lying down.

Hullo Piglet So sorry to hear about your back. That's rotten. Can you draw? Perhaps you can do some wonderful designs while you're laid up? I had certainly missed you and wondered 'what was up'. Obviously, you're not! Bed rest does make a difference, but it is not an 'easy' cure. Try my favourite answer to bed 'prison' - talking books: don't even have to hold your hands up - wonderful invention!! Your library will do them I'm sure. . In article , Piglet writes

((((((GENTLE HUGS)))))) from one who understands. My mum spent a lot of weeks flat on her back in hospital in traction after damaging her back. She was getting through 3 fat novels a day by the time they let her out!

Oh Piggie - I wish I could help. Want to borrow some books or magazines?

Cyber ((((((HUGS)))))))) enroute from ME! You take it easy - maybe do handwork as others have suggested, or get your computer monitor adjusted so you can see it from bed and play LOTS of solitare games ANYWAY - I'm likely to be out in the Aurora area again this fall (visiting SIL-Gail - who btw, just underwent triple bypass surgery). So both you gals have GOT to get better so we all can do the quilt shop thing again! Saying prayers for your recovery. ME-Judy

Piglet,

sorry to hear you are on bed rest, but boring as it may be do take your doctors advice as the more you rest the quicker you will be up. The others have given you so much good advice I can't add to it but wishing you a fast recovery

I feel for you. DH had sciatica flares for years, then he started belly dancing with me and now the flare ups he gets are if his back gets real cold and the flare ups are shorter and less painful. When your back settles down maybe you could consider Pilates as an option to help with your back.
