OT: Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

I don't remember who originally said they had read this book and recommended it, but a great big thank you! Quite honestly, if I had read the overview of the book and had seen the format in which it was written, I doubt I would ever have picked it up to bring it home from the library - but I'm so glad I did! I read it over the last week, and I don't remember when a book has left me with such a good feeling - it made me smile, laugh and cry. Thanks for a great read!

Same here -- and I enjoyed it. While we're on the subject of books, has anybody read "Lottery" by Patricia Wood? I really enjoyed it.

I read it right after that recommendation came in, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, too. :)

Yay! I think it was me that recommended the book. I know exactly what you mean about the format the book was written in. If I had picked it up & paged thru it, I probably wouldn't have read it, but it came highly recommended to me. I hope the niece of the aunt will write more adult fiction. (If you don't know the story, the aunt wrote the draft of the book (her first attempt at writing a book) & when she submitted it, it was accepted by the publisher, but needed some editing. She was diagnosed with terminal cancer & unable to do the editing, so asked her niece, who is a children's book author, if she could do the rewrites. She did & did a wonderful job. The aunt passed away before the book made it to the best seller list.)

I'm glad that everyone that read the book enjoyed it.

I just picked up a book at the library today - The Piano Teacher. Has anyone read it yet? I read a couple of great reviews of the book, so put my name on the waiting list at the library.

Thanks for that additional info about the authors. I didn't know "the rest of the story." I've now made a note to get The Piano Teacher - let us know if it's as good as promised, okay?
