OT: Happy New Year from Down Under

May you all have a wonderful New Year's and good wishes for a happy, safe and quilty 2009. We get to see 2009 a few hours before those of you on the US continent, so I'll have a first peek (after New Zealand) and let you know if it is worth ploughing on considering the doom and gloom of recesssions everywhere . Just as well we have quilting to give us a purpose hey!

And the same good wishes to you and everyone on the list, Bronnie! :) Things are busy here -- Bisou has done it again. This time she took the top section off a bed quilt, and I'm trying to repair it -- I'm lucky that I still had some of the fabric necessary. :S

And happy new year from the Swamp. Aside from hangover cures, black-eyed peas and bowl games, are any of you discovering great New Year's quilt fabric sales? I need another fabric like I need another wrinkle but I do enjoy looking. Have you found any great bargains? Polly

A semi-local fabric store has a big sale - quilting cottons as low as $2.00/yd. They have a big old shop [same location for 40+ years], small parking lot [shared with a strip mall], and hordes of ladies fighting over fabric. And it is not the best neighborhood. Nope, don't need any fabric. Will not go.

Several years back someone told me to make sure your table is set with full setting [silverware, glasses, plates] on NY Eve as a good-fortune wish for food/money/happiness in the NY. and another friend told me to do on NY Day what you want to do in the coming year for example, quilting or crocheting. So I'll do these things.

Happy New Year, all. "Everything's fine in 2009"
