OT: Home sweet home

I've just come home from Phoenix, where we were in the midst of frantic family "doings" for the weekend. We spent Thursday here and then left early Friday morning -- a full hour earlier than planned, thanks to DH's urging. Of course, the result of that urging was that I accidentally left my hand piecing project behind. Grrr! :S

That afternoon and evening were spent with DSonIL's family, who were having a second Thanksgiving. Saturday all day was spent with DH's extended family, who were having a "reunion", as MIL had mentioned months ago that it had been a long time since "everyone" had been together. Of course, there are reasons why not everyone likes to get together with everyone else, but we did it to please MIL. Fortunately, DH's sister *almost* behaved herself; she arrived tipsy and didn't get much worse. Also, DBIL's DW wasn't her usual sarcastic self, so things could have been much worse. It was really great to see a couple of nephews and nieces we hadn't seen in ages, and everyone took the requisite group photos. MIL has 10 grandchildren, only one of whom couldn't get there, and 11 greats -- all of whom were there. With various spouses, it was quite a crowd! I think there were 38 people, or thereabouts.

This morning, DH had me up by 5:30 and on the road shortly thereafter. I'm tired, and I didn't get to do *anything* vaguely quilty, but at least it's over. LOL! I'm glad to be home. :)

DH's sis almost behaved herself? I am sitting here laughing at your family. Our PITA sister (of 5 girls, 1 ain't so bad) is punishing us by not showing up at family functions. I have seen her for a few minutes 2x's in the last couple of years. She 'almost' has behaved herself in those few minutes too. SInce we are being 'punished' we have had some really nice family get togethers. I tease but it really is pretty sad. She really has no clue . Being a victim is work.

I am glad you survived the 'doings' and glad you are home safe. Try to read Val's accounting of her turkey day if you get a few minutes.

Taria, only someone who has a similar family member would laugh!

True, but I rather wish that DSisIL *would* punish us by not showing up. She's caused a terrible ruckus with the widow (since remarried) of another DBIL, so that the widow no longer shows up where DSisIL will be. Not that anyone blames her, of course, but most of us would rather see her than the one who does show up.

I did read it! Hysterical! Val, you have a wonderful way with words.
