OT labels on clothes

I got several pair of new slacks from a neighbor. They were her mother's, who lived in a nursing home. They have labels STUCK on the back, just below the waist band. I've never seen anything stuck so tightly in my life. They go through a hot wash and dry, steam iron, Goo-Gone, all to no avail trying to remove them. They really won't be noticeable, since I wear shirts not tucked in, but since they have her name on them, I'd like to get rid of them. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Howdy!

Pigma Micron Pens- color the label as you please. ;-)

How are your fingers? Are the splints on or off?

Best wishes, (((Gen))),

Blacking out the name, etc. isn't the problem. I don't like how the label looks from the outside. That's why I want to get rid of it. Guess it's there to stay. Just wear long enough tops to cover it. Splints are off-had them for 3 weeks. The replacement will be 3 months recovery----maybe. I'm too impatient to follow protocol most of the time. We'll see. Gen

Find some ribbon wider that the label and about the same color as the slacks. Fold under the ends of the ribbon so they can't ravel and stitch it over the label. Back when 'embellished with anything' jeans were trendy, we collected labels and put them on the jr hi girls' britches. I still have some rather important labels if you can't find ribbon, even some sergeant's stripes from an old army jacket. Polly

Sounds as though superglue was used and it soaked right into the fibres - you can only imagine what the clothes have to go through in a seniors' residence laundry system for them to use this type of adhesive. You could 'decorate' the outside of the pants with a tattoo- like design ;)) if you don't want to wear long tops all the time. jennellh
