OT: mississippi river boat trips

My dad is interested in taking a cruise along the mississippi. He wants to go for a few days/ 1 week. Anyone know of some information I can get to send to him?

We are glad that he is making plans for after getting out of the rehab center. He has had a setback though. An infection has developed in his stomach/intenstines. They are treating him at the rehab center and will evaluate him tomorrow to see if he has to return to the hospital. Please continue to keep him in your prayers and thoughts. However, therapy has been put on hold due to the IVs and oxygen mask that he needs. Good news though...before this he was walking in the gym without a walker but with an assistant! thanks Grace

I can only aim you. I have always wanted to take a slow, do nothing except look sort of cruise on the Mississippi. The Delta Queen is a paddlewheel and goes from New Orleans to St. Louis. Since I' not a bit sure I wouldn't get sea sick, I'm thinking we'll probably take one of the overnight cruises out of New Orleans first for a "test Polly" run. I believe The Delta Queen has sister ships. If a paddlewheel adventure appeals to your dad, I 'll bet you could begin with a search of "Delta Queen cruise" and find lots. Polly

Ask your Dr. for the seasick patch. They were difficult to get some time back because all the medicinal patch making companies were into making the "quit smoking" and the birth control patches. Anyway, the seasick patches work wonderfully and I *never* get onto any size or type of water vessel without one! The ones I have are called Trans-Derm Scope -- they are scopolimine. They are about the size of those little round band-aids and come packaged 4 to a box. When I am on a 7 day cruise, I don't need to wear a whole one. I just cut one in half and stick the half behind one ear. About 3 or 4 days later, I take that half off and put the other half behind the other ear. If you do get these, be sure to put the patch on at night just before going to bed. They can make you a bit queesy at first and if you are asleep you don't notice it. The only ther side effect I have noticed is that I get a

*really* dry mouth. I end up drinking tons of water and other liquids but that's a WHOLE lot better than being seasick!!!! CiaoMeow >^;;^< .
