OT: New Home!!

Paul, the boys and I finally have a place to live all our very own!!! We don't move in until next weekend, so we have a week to get things packed up here. We go Thursday to sign the papers. This place is HUGE!!!! Its a duplex that has been remodeled. Its 1400 sq. ft. It used to be 3 bedrooms, but they knocked a wall down and made it two big bedrooms. The kitchen is enormous. Large living room, plus a small garage. I don't know that a car would fit in there, but we don't have one anyways so who cares lol. Its a great little space for Paul to tinker and have his own space. Or who knows we might divide it in half so I can do my quilting out there also hehe. We do have to eventually get a space heater for out there, but since its such a small space, it wouldn't take much to heat. We will be responsible for the flower beds in front also, so we can put whatever we want in there when spring comes. He said he would prefer something colorful, but if we wanted to put in a couple tomato plants that would be fine also. But I could always make one a garden and one for flowers or something. We also have a small patch of grass we are responsible for. We don't have to mow it but we do have to water it in the summer because the water faucet is outside our door.

We are so excited!!! We will definitely take pictures.

How is maryd taking your move - is she jumping up and down in joy or glum because she will miss the grandkidlings?

Congrats on your new place.

Have you seen the movie "The Money Pit?" The Cary Grant/Myrna Loy version is best. Of course, anything Cary Grant does is the best.

Having just built our house I can really relate! That (Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream HOuse) movie is one of my favs and I have given many for gifts when friends and family move into new homes. It always amazes me that he complained about the price of the house at $33,000, and it was in Connecticut too.

I have no idea. She hasn't said one way or the other how she feels. And I wasn't there when Paul told her so I don't know what her reaction was. I do know that Steve was happy for us when Paul told him as I had just walked into the room when he told Steve the news.

Mr.Blandings Builds His Dream House is one of my favorite movies..

I love the scene where the wife is telling the painters what color to paint.

Myrna Loy: I want the kitchen the color of this thread...not buttercup yellow, and not sunshine yellow, but a soft yellow of warm buttermilk. I want the living room painted the blue that's inthe background of this swatch of fabric..not quite Robins egg blue, but not quite navy blue. Then I want the dining room this shade of red on this flower...not a crimson red, but not burgundy either. Do you understand?

Workmen: yes ma'am

Myrna Loy walks away and the workmen look at each other.

Workman #1: did you get all that?

Workman #2: yeah, yellow kitchen, blue living room, and red dining room.

(Not exactly the lines from the movie, but you get the idea..)
