Is was pretty exciting, but we are fine. A small convenience store and gas station about 15 miles from us was taken down. There were two other (confirmed) tornados within 10 miles of us. Here at our house, we had strong winds and some heavy rain for about 30 minutes around 7 this morning. Now it's sunny and windy. The HairyButt Gang takes great exception to thunder, so my biggest trouble is being smothered by the four dogs as they cuddle closer, and closer, and closer..... VBG We were in Kansas City yesterday for a doc appt. and came home running in front of the storm all the way. *That* was rather hairy- and I worried about you, too! My truck was blown all over the road and fighting the steering wheel was exhausting. It was a loooonnngg day- left at 9:30 a.m. and got home at 11:15 p.m. Hubby needs cataract surgery asap. (sigh.....) I'm having my hip scans today- ugh! Getting old ain't for sissies!!! LOL

Oh my!!! That's a very long day!! Now you know you can always find refuge here! No need to be driving in those storms!! Sunshine will gladly smother you Roo will be too busy chasing and attempting to catch lightening strikes...... We had tornadoes going all around us... second time in a week... and apparently my home weather radio has given up, but I still have a hand held unit.... but luckily, just had to pick up some yard debris and that was it. Will the hunky Mr. C be having the surgery here??? There are some really good eye surgeons in the area. I will be more than happy to meet you if you need someone to sit with you or give you good quilt store recommendations at the very least... or restaurant guide. ;-) Just let me know! And let me know how the hip scan goes too!!

There have been times I was ready to dig a basement with me bare hands!

All good here. Tornado watches all around us except for my county. Weird. Warnings to the North and west, but we only had rain and wind.

I do NOT look forward to the coming couple months. Something like 78 tornados (nationwide, of course) in Feb alone. Average is 10.

Good to hear you are safe! And maybe it will be like last year, we had the early out break and then the rest of the season was calm.

That did remind of when I was younger growing up in OK. I was helping with a friend's niece's birthday party. The sirens went off so we each grabbed a toddler under an arm and headed for the basement... about that time the power went off and so did the sump pump..... and the basement started filling fast... as we all stood half way down the stairs with toddlers under each arm ...... luckily everything turned out ok........ but what an absurd day that was.

That's scary! Talk about no where to go!

Saturday night I was on the 9th floor at the Embassy Suites at the Plaza. That place is practically soundproof and still, the rain and wind woke me up. I sat there debating about getting dressed and going down to the lobby, but the ceiling is glass, so that wasn't appealing. Going clear down to the parking garage wasn't an option by myself. DH was snoring away. So I just sat until it was over. I kept us all safe. I am the keeper.

Well your radar was right on... one touched down south of KC about 10 minutes from my house that night.... so you were up with reason. Glad you were safe! Those buildings down town are amazing to be in when the storms roll in.

Jan, are involved at all with the Heartland Network? I am going to the annual meeting next month because I've suddenly become Program co-chair for my guild. It's the same weekend as the shophop so it will be good excuse to go up on Friday and spend the night.

Hmmm not directly.... but that rings a bell as something I'm indirectly connected to thru IMQA???? Or am I confusing that with something else?? Congratulations on the program co-chair!! I guess I should look up the shop hop info.... I always seem to stumble into it Imagine what I could do if I planned

I think you belong as a guild.

They say they connect guilds, shops and professionals. They will have information on speakers and best of all, feedback from guilds who have booked those speakers.

And as far as the congrats, I'm still not too sure what I'm doing. I was treasurer and the program co-chair had to step down cause she works days and said she didn't have time for it, so I said I'd trade around and I would do it.

Now I have to fill next years programs and workshops. Do you do anything you'd want to teach us?

Well the membership price is definitely reasonable. I'll have to figure out what is wrong with my adobe reader to read the newsletter. On Track (IMQA Magazine) had an article telling us what the benefits were to us as a guild for joining, but I didn't retain it in my brain.

As for teaching... I'm very flattered... and you'd think with 13 + years of quilting I'd have something valuable to say, but I can't think of anything that most of the people on this list don't already know, so I'd probably bore you to tears..... better to just skip to the coffee and dessert ;-) I'm always happy to answer individual questions if I know the answer

By the way, since you like primitives... or at least that's what my brain thinks... Lee's Summit Quilter's Station would be one of the shops you would love in the KC area. They even have a primitives weekend celebration thing once a year

I don't get to the Kansas side shops enough to be dangerous I'm usually hitting whole foods and other boring necessities.

Thanks for the heads up on the shop. And I adore primitives! The girls tell me I have to go to the shop in Eudora. I have no idea where that is, but apparently it's on the Kansas side.

Oh, I remember seeing Quilters Station profiled in Quilters Sampler last year.

OK, yeah, that's definitely on my list. I may try to talk them out of that quilt behind the cutting table. That one just makes my heart all aflutter.

You weren't specific about what problems you encountered. If it's only that there doesn't appear to be any content, it may be because the first page is evidently blank. Scroll down a bit and the second page should appear.

Thanks Julia, but it was shutting down the adobe saying it had encountered a problem and then made my computer reboot 3 times in a row...... :-) My DH is a computer person in his day job, I'll put him on it :-)
