OT Prayers needed

For more than 2 years a nephew has been in and out of a hospital. It started with shingles, then went from one serious medical problem to another. Now he is being treated at the U of Michigan Hospital for blood clots in his lungs. He uses a walker or cane to get around and is in constant pain. He and his wife (and 2 adopted boys) are moving in with their daughter to get some help with things. This is a guy who went through a war, got his degree, retired after 24 years in the military to become a preacher, has adopted 5 or 6 boys, and really has made a difference in this world. He really can use the prayers! Thank you in advance. Barbara in HOT SC

Shingles is such a weird monster. We've had friends with 'just' shingles that only had an itchy rash for a couple of weeks - and others who have had to fight the dratted illness and accompanying strange happenings for months. Is the Univ of Michigan a teaching hospital? There are a few here in the south that can figure out just about anything. We will hold your nephew close in our prayers and I expect that there are lots of folks who have already started. Polly

Polly, the "just" shingles started in Colorada and he went to a teaching hospital there. He became so bad that he & family moved to Michigan to be a few hundred miles from his sisters and go to different doctors.. Then he became worse and moved again to be even closer to his daughter. Yes U of Mich. is a teaching hospital and he came home yesterday afternoon and he is using a wheelchair part of the time, and a walker when he feels better. Thanks for all the prayers. Prayers on their way. The University of Michigan Hospital System is one of the best. I live just 30 minutes from there -- and my DS's physicians (and mine!) are from the U of M system. I hope all goes well and he is back home soon.

Taria, thanks! He is home from the hospital right now. Before he went to the hospital, he had gotten a call from the doctor's office with the result from Labs, and was told to get to the emergency room ASAP! Barbara "
