OT: Prayers please

I heard from my Mom last night. My Grandma's had Alzheimer's for a number of years and fell ill a couple of weeks ago. It looks like she's not going to make it through this time.

Please keep us, especially my cousin, in your prayers for the next couple of days/weeks. It's going to be especially hard on my cousin.

Even though we essentially lost her to the Alzheimer's along time ago, I find I'm not handling this very well this morning.

Alzheimer's is such a hateful disease. The loved ones never really get to say goodbye and after years of suffering, they're faced with being glad that the afflicted is finally, finally going to be released from such helplessness and confusion, and feeling guilty and grieved at the same time. We'll be holding all of you close, Maureen. So very sorry. Polly

Hugs and prayers, Maureen. I lost my Dad to Alzheimer's 4 years ago and like you said even though the Alzheimer's took him a long time before that it was so very hard to say goodbye. My thoughts will be with you and your family during this difficult time.

Having been through this myself Maureen, I will hold you and your family close to my heart and keep you in my prayers. This is a horrible and awful disease.

Hugs and prayers are on their way to you and your family. Alzheimer's is such a difficult disease - it's sooo hard not to be able to say goodbye, and the greiving is spread out long before they actually pass on. But, your Grandmother is looking down on you & all of her family now with all her memories intact. ME-Judy

I'm so, so sorry. And I know what you mean. I grieved every time my mom hit a new low and thought there wouldn't be much left to grieve. I was wrong. The pain was awful.

Prayers on their way from Indiana for you all.
