OT-rambling on bout my morning

Margaret came by this morning for about 2.5hrs. showed her some ideas for both applique and reverse applique. she is sure of the design she wants to do. i gave her a 15 inch square of muslin and some scraps to try out some different applique methods. showed her how i use interfacing but couldnt find my interfacing to give her some. showed her how i EPP scraps into wee dresden blades and then make those into flowers, butterfly etc. EPP works on any design, i've made birds that way and dual coloured leaves. explained how to do freezer paper on front and back for applique. sent her home with the muslin and scraps to have a play around and get in some stitching practice. told her if she has any questions email me or come by after work for a few minutes when needed. i'm always home and only live a few minutes away so no biggy dropping by after work.

even before i could ask...she said she was working the next two weekends so we couldnt get together again for three weeks. :( so means we cant go to the quilt show in two weeks. :( wondering if there is anyone else around my burb who'd like to go. who do i know? argh. i'll think about it. so thats my morning. oh and show'd her my GREEN HUG. she couldnt believe all those blocks were made by you folks all over the world just for me. splained how it was all put together by different folks, each person doing a different part. she was amazed to say the least. then i told her how the first few weeks i had real issues whenever i looked at it cuz of why i had it and would give it up in a heartbeat if only....

theres my morning. no one home now but me. dh at work, ds is out with friends. just me and the cat. she isnt a cuddly cat at all so she's not much use when i need her. oh well. at least i had someone to talk to about something fun. she is one busy lady but is going to get this design of hers made somehow. we'll see. i'm trying real hard to move forward but in slow motion it is taking a long long time. hugz to all of rctq for putting up with me thru all this. you're my therapy and it is much needed. j.

LOL And you could take pictures to share the show with us here! I'd love to see whatevers happening in quilting in your part of the world.

Donna, i wish it were that easy for me. i've become a recluse so getting out at all is only going to happen if i'm not on my own. cant yet deal with the usual 'hi, how are you?' i posted to facebook that i've no one to go with me. maybe someone on there that lives in auckland will reply. tho to be fair, all those who live here are in their 20s, cept one, so thats not very likely. oh well.

Taking the pixs suggestion and running with it.

GO. That's an order!

Take the camera. Every time you 'see' someone that might come up and say "hi", whip the camera up and start clicking away. So what if you take 10 pixs of the same quilt, they eventually will take the hint and keep on going. In the meantime YOU have enjoyed a quilt show that you do seem to want to attend.

So

GO

and thoroughly enjoy yourself. You have our (collective) permission.

Butterfly (and we want details and pixs when you get home)

ta, Ms B, i appreciate your thots on this. i dont expect anyone to know how i'm feeling. i was having 'going out in public issues' before march. now it is more complicated for me. i dont want to go alone. i dont have a camera anyhow. body today didnt want to get outta bed but i was awake and laying in bed quietly (so i dont wake dh) makes the body hurt more, so i got up. no better but more distractions than laying in a quiet room. i'm still trying to come up with some way to get there but not alone. shrug, j.

j*...you "will" become a recluse if you allow it to happen... I've been there and done that....so I got my arse up off the couch and just went. First time I went alone believe it or not, I was scared. I mean, what kind of quilter goes to shows alone?! That's what I preceived others would be thinking about of me. Shoot, they don't know and me them. So I went and the heck with the world! If I died going to a quilt show, well, where's a better place to die!

I didn't say to many hello's to anyone I meet but did find many quilters who like to fondle the same material as me. LOL

I went thinking I'd have a horrible time but went anyway. It is different then when you go with someone you know, for sure, but it was still fun. And I had the choice to stay as long as I wanted or to leave sooner then I had planned. For me, it was the first huge step in just going! It was a good decision.

I do hope you decide to go. If you find some fun, silly, weird, crazy fat quarter, think of me. :) Then come back here and tell me what I look like.

JUST DO IT!

I hadn't any luck with that addy either so I finally gave up and pinged her here. I still couldn't get thru yesterday. So I figure since this is straight to J* 's s posts, I 'd send it here.
