OT: should I hurt him, and if so, how much??

So, Wheel of Fortune just came on, and one of the contestants stated she was an artist and listed the various art mediums she worked with. One of which was quilting. Hubby looked at me and asked, "So, because she quilts, she thinks she can call herself an artist??" Needless to say, he realized his mistake when he saw how red my face was and how fast I was breathing. He quickly stated that was NOT how he meant it to sound and then asked me, "Am I going to be on the internet tonight?" Well, you can see the answer to that question since I posted his comments here.

He is currently outside with the dog, knowing full well the advantage of retreating to allow me to calm down a bit ...he should know after 11 years of marriage not to disparage sewing or quilting as an art form...especially since he can't do either (he just gave me a pair of shorts to put a button back on....um, kind of like asking a portrait artist to repaint your walls.....

anyway, I thought I'd ask just how much I should make him squirm...he is thinking that he will be sleeping on the couch tonight or will wake to the smell of gas (not really ever a possibility, but the comment made when he knows he's made a SERIOUS mistake).

Ahhhh I say cut him some slack. I didn't take his comment to be negative. The art vs. craft discussion/arguement can go on and on. I don't know that I would call all quilters artists. I think perhaps in a backhanded kind of way that he was trying to validate your talents too. It's not worth being angry about. IMHO

This is exactly why we don't have television reception in our home. Too many transgressions to commit while the brain is disengaged == which I contend is the only way most of us watch television.

I will say, I don't consider the quilts I make to be art. If I draw out a design with deliberate composition, balance, etc. and then work at the result until I make it as near as I can what I intended, then sometimes I think it is at least wannabe art. But most of what I make is artfully comforting. LOL.

I would settle for nothing less than your favorite kind of chocolate, in appropriate seeking-forgiveness quantities!

First, calm down. Sounds like he was teasing you.

But to literally make him squirm, you could move the button on those shorts so that it makes the shorts too tight. Or, you could use a smaller button, one that will never stay closed. (G)

I had a friend in college who actually did laundry and ironing every week for her boyfriend! When she found out he was two-timing her she happened to have his laundry already washed and ironed, so she spent an evening with needle and thread and stitched all the buttonholes shut on his shirts, and then sewed up the center section of his underpants. Then she posted an ad in his dorm describing his laundry piece by piece and offered it for sale, which brought him running over to her dorm to retrieve it. She charged him the "sale price". I don't know what he did about all the sewn-shut parts of his clothes!

Sleeping outside in the dog house makes sense for him right now... ;) Or the gentle application of a cast iron skillet to the left lug...

Or just sit him down with a needle and thread and make HIM sew that button on. Then let him know that from now on he'll do his own mending. And ironing...

LOL Oh how I Love the pure evilness on this group...lol.

Actually, he made dinner tonight as part of his need to make up for it (I didn't say anything) and he did say he didn't mean it like it came out.

As far as television is concerned, we usually only watch wheel and jeopardy...the rest of the time, it's either off or is a movie
