OT Storms and sewing

Yesterday I was busily sewing a red and white striped top for a child's surrey that my brother is restoring. It dates from the 1950's and holds three children, with the one in the back doing the pedaling and steering. When I finished it up, I was anxious to get it to the Post Office. When I headed outside, though, it was very dark and nasty looking. The TV was flashing "thunderstorm" warnings.

Then it hit! Winds like I've never seen before, debris flying, trees falling, hail. I was ready to climb in the closet!! Power was out in several areas, and they had to close the PA Turnpike to remove trees! Today our neighborhood looks very bare with all the damaged trees removed.

I mailed the surrey top today! If you'd like to see pictures of it during construction, or the storm damage, you can check them out in my Webshots. I hope to have pictures of the top on the surrey when it reaches my brother at the other end of the state!

WOW! That looks like classic straight-line winds damage. And those poor trees! How sad. I would have been in the basement with the critters . . .

There's been all kinds of tornadoes and nasty storms like that here in WI too. I'm glad you survived yours. You are a brave woman to tackle the surrey top! It looks like a huge project, Alice. Those are some great photos and it's nice to put your smiling face to your name. You did a marvelous job on that big top! Donna
