OT -- Wanted

Wanted:

A computer that breaks down less often than I do.

I got a new computer 2 and a half weeks ago. Its power supply went kerphlooey Tuesday morning.

They're making good on it and sending a tech over to our house to install a new power supply.

But I'm still in a world-class pout over it.

*pout*

Couldn't you ask for something that we could actually deliver??? Like fabric or chocolate or thread? You're aiming way too high!!

I am using a computer that is not a year old and We are in the process of replacing one of the drives. I didn't even use it that often. Of course, the drives that are put in brand new are cheap ones. You are not alone I will pout with you. It is always better to pout in a group than alone. Who wants to join????? Pout, pout, pout!!!!

now this is why I bought my computer where I did: hard drive died after 2 years and got replaced for FREE power supply died and got replaced for under $30 (= parts cost only) my computer is nearly 5 years old and works well - the only thing I'm lacking is memory and sadly when I bought my computer RIMM memory was hyped to be the next up and coming *thing* however it turned out to be the next flop so I can't get more memory for my computer (RIMM won't talk with anything else apparently )

My computer place was set up by tech uni students wanting to make money to pay for tuition now 7 years on it's country wide and the best computer shop around with excellent service. they make the computers themselves have good warranty and will add any part or replace any part for parts cost only if your computer was bought from them *and* there is no charge for finding out what is wrong with your computer.

next time I buy a computer I am asking for at least *double* the memory they are offering LOL

MY pooter is working perfectly well at the moment. Shame... I wanted an excuse to get a newer, faster one with a nice flat LCD screen! Pouting along side you all, even though we REALLY cannot afford to replace this dinosaur right now! Especially not after I just bought two new sergers in less than a month!

Something to keep in mind with LCD monitors.

I've been looking around and haven't found one yet that supports a refresh rate higher than 75 Hz. That's not high enough for me -- it'll give me headaches. The LCD monitor that I bought with the new computer I ended up having to swap with one of the kids for a CRT monitor with a higher refresh rate.

If refresh rates are an issue for you, you might want to consider a flat screen CRT instead.

Not considering anything seriously at the mo, but thanks - I'll keep that in mind.

Try an Apple. David has had them for years and got me hooked too. We rarely have problems, and if it happens to break down in the first year, they'll replace or fix it for free. If you buy the extended apple care plan, they'll do that for 3 years.

Be careful what you ask for... instead of a reliable computer, you might end up with a lot more breakdowns yourself. ;-)
