OT: washing machines.....

OK, why does stuff always break down on a Sunday?

My dear old washing machine, finally washed its last load yesterday, after 7 years of service. Went to open the door and realised that it hadn't spun, so tried it again and it will fill, it will empty but nothing else. I thought that occasionally it wasn't rinsing properly and now I know that it wasn't. It has done well, spent the first 3 years of its life in a damp garage, hence the rust and then we moved house, so it travelled in a grain skip (on back of lorry!), it was then dropped and lost a foot, so rested on a cardboard to stop it rocking, but it worked for 4 years like that. So I'll give it, its due, it was a good machine! Have just ordered a replacement online, and it'll be here on Friday, so then to learn what that machine can do...... Strangely we were out shopping on the Saturday and I stopped and looked at machines, for that just in case moment, not expecting it to arrive so soon, so luckily had an inkling what I wanted from the next one.

So here's to a new more eco friendly A+++ graded machine, which is meant to use less electricity and water and save us money and still give us clean clothes.....fingers crossed for lower bills to cover the cost of the machine ;)

Your old machine certainly had an interesting life :-) and it just shows that they are tough beasts!

I hope you have many years of good service from your new friend.

RIP old machine. When my front loader was having a tough time spinning/draining we realized the drain pump filter (or whatever it is called) needed cleaning. That worked for us. Sounds like your machine gave its all already though. My mom was the best at getting every stain out and took a lot of pride in her laundry. The very day she died the washer machine died too. No kidding. It was the oddest think but I swear she took it with her to the other side. It was working fine and then dead all at once. Very weird stuff. That is my washing machine story for you. I wish you and you new washer many years together! Taria

We had filter probs a couple of years ago and when it was fixed the engineer told us not to clean the filter as the insides of the machine had moved and weren't aligned and it would leak! So we didn't touch again! Probably the drop on the ground that moved that about

I beginning to get excited about getting the new one. I'll try not to drop this one

Hmm - is it a marketing ploy to get you to do more washing, in order to hear the fancy little tune?? Makes you wonder...

I can send you fabric to prewash for me ;) G> Got my new washing machine!!! Came end of last week, it is soooooo

My new Samsung dishwasher sings a little song when it starts and again when it finishes. It is quite pleasant compared to the godawful beep of the Bosch clothes washer and dryer. Maybe the makers are figuring out nobody likes the nasty beepers? Sounds like your machines make you happy and that is wonderful! Wash away Janner. Taria

My washing machine is a Samsung as well, short tune at the beginning, long tune at the end! What a great selling policy, cheerful machines ;)

On my Bosch washer you can turn the horrid bleeper off - which I did immediately as I put a wash on as I go to bed.
