OT: Webshots

Hi,

Does anybody else have problems getting into webshots? I have not been able to access their website for three days and I am wondering if the problem is on my side or on theirs.

Thanks,

Maria

I had the same problem, Maria. The only way that I could finally access Webshots was to click on Internet Explorer and type in the URL from there. I don't know why there was a problem accessing the site via my regular ISP. HTH.

I just checked my site on webshots, and there are no problems for me. Maybe it is a temporary problem with your isp.

It's on their end. They pulled down the site last Thursday to do a complete back-up of all the photos and they didn't get it back online totally yet. Currently people are experiencing varying degrees of accessibility from none at all to everything looks normal. Webshots hasn't answered email sent to the complaint dept. or the WS blog. A lot of folks are very angry about it. Debra in VA See my quilts at:

this can and does happen on any online site. they have to do occasional upgrades and make changes. usually all the better for it. most sites endeavour to do it when there is the least traffic aka middle of the night. however as the world never totally sleeps, its kind of hard to please everyone. we just need to exercise a wee bit of patience. free isnt necessarily a bad thing. j.

I am actually paying for my webshots account and I am glad that it is back up. A downtime of 4 days without announcement is a bit much. Our internet connection has been coming and going recently and I was wondering if that was the problem. Today I got back into webshots so it probably just was their downtime.

4 days down for you, eh, and with no notice. it did come back tho. i'm still looking at the butt ugly nearly 50 ft pole that appeared outside my back gate last week. no notice, not a word from council, the rugby club or the parks people. nothing and i'm still running up leads to figure out how to get them to move it to the other side of the field so not right in my face or remove the poles during the 7 months it says they wont need them over summer. why do i have to look at this butt ugly pole out my back kitchen window 24/7/365 a yr. i bought backing onto a park so i wouldnt have to look at suburbia out at least one window. now that view of nature only is gone too. first thing each morning it ruins my view of the day and everytime i go into my kitchen i see it, looming over me, i hate it and if i have to take it down myself i will. i'm not done with them over this. stay tuned! j.

I got in long enough to register for a site. Since then, I can't get on either.........

Not really. There are a lot of paid members who could not use the site for several days, and a lot of non-paid members who could. Some people still can't access Webshots. Debra in VA See my quilts at:

Howdy!

My note was in response to someone who is *not* paying for the service.

A few of us have already noted that we don't do webshots; I've been warned by several IT professionals to stay away from there.
