OT Welcome sweet spring time

The 1st day of spring (for us) is this coming Sunday. I honestly wondered if it was going to happen. We've been hibernating in 20° days for waaaay too long. Didn't know what was going on with the robins. They usually visit here in late December and they've just today arrived. Oh my wow. Don't know where they stopped over waiting for you 'real' winter folks to dig out of the snow but the food must have been really good. I was beginning to think they'd watched the snow storm reports and decided to forget you. Hang in there. Spring is on the way. Welcome Sweet Spring Time la LA la la LA la. We need to get out more. Hey Polly

Don't hog all the robins. I'd like some sent this way. The last time I saw a bird was about a month ago and that was a huge flock of male cardinals.

LOL. As the 'crow flies', Kate, I figure you're only about 20 miles due north of here. I just hope you have an abundance of worms ready. These guys are on a 'super size' diet. Polly

The Robins may be the ones who have been eating here in East Central Florida. We have had almost a record number of freezes and all the pepper berries froze. They ferment, guess what the Robins eat. They fly funny after eating, too.

Please send some of your spring up here to Maine! We've been bouncing between highs one day in the 40s followed the next day by highs in the teens! So far, about 8" of our 6 ft. snow drifts have melted-down -- only to turn into an icy driveway the next day. C'mon Spring! (actually, up here we call it "MUD season"). ME-Judy

The robins are all in my backyard in OH. They've been here all winter. Guess they don't go south anymore. Gen

Howdy!

Why are you getting Spring a month before the rest of us? We're springing right along w/ temps in the 70s this week, a nice change from last week's ice storm, but Spring won't be official, even for us, until March 20. ... I guess they do some things differently on your side of the Mississippi...?

Yes, the robins are thick; the mockingbirds are staking their claims, and the jays are trying to rule the feeders.

Meanwhile, the new spring fabrics are busting out all over, and I think I need to put my name on a few.

Cheers!

We are just north of the Gulf of Mexico and we start spring ahead of everybody else. Probably because the gators have to get all spruced up to go greet the Spring Break touristers. This place gives Animal Control Officer a whole new meaning. Polly

Are they controlling the gators or the Spring Breakers?

I think we have spring now. It did snow the other day in the hills and Stirling (as reported by Megwen in Bath) and was just above freezing over here on the East coast. But the sun came out today, and we toddled down to the park to see the snowdrops, crocues and the beginnings of daffodils sprinking the ground. The sunshine was the cue for the optimistic neighbour kids to don shorts and t-shirts! Hope springs eternal.
