OT Welsh Quilters

As some of you know, I'm moving to Aberystwyth in September and we're having a terrible time finding places to live - people DO NOT want 18 year old students renting their property (we're nice people really).

I was wondering if any of you could help out by sending a copy of the local paper with classifieds (I'll either pay for the paper and the postage of there could be fabric involved!).

Any other general tips for first time movers / renters? I've hopefully landed a job with Natwest which is approx 11,000 a year starting rate. There won't be much left over for savings though.

I have friends who live in Aber - I was a student there myself for 6 years. I'll ask them.

When I was there, renting in Aber was very expensive. It's a small town surrounded by mountains and sea, so the local landlords can charge whatever they like for accommodation and people have to pay it. Also you have left it very late - most people renting in Aber are students who know 6-months in advance that they will need somewhere to live, and so sort it all out very early. You'll need a lot of good luck to find a place for September if you start now.

Sorry this isn't more cheerful news. OTOH it's a beautiful town and a great place to live. Happiest years of my life, and all that.

Thanks ever so much, we asked the Uni but they haven't done it and that was weeks ago! You'll have to let me know the best places around there for everything. I haven't been able to find any quilt shops either which is a shame.

We've been reccomended to use letting agencies which will proberbly work alright. We found the most beautiful cottage that hadn't gone a few weeks ago, roses round the door type thing, £54 a month + council tax and bills with a bedroom, lounge, two studies, kitchen telephone and washing machine! Although she liked us and asked when we could move in - she retracted that comment when she found out our age! We;re gonna try for there again next year.

Yeah, wonderful place to bring up kids if I ever change my mind about having them!

If you do land the job, ask your emploeyer to write a letter for you. "Employed by respectable bank" is probaly much more apealing to landlords than "student".
