Patchwork anyone?

Now that I have finished working on my stash it is time to begin using some of these pretty fabrics. I have spent so much time in the last year or so finishing up WIP's and my UFO's that I have only a couple left. It is time to begin more patchwork. I haven't even made a half square triangle in a couple years now. I have every color under the rainbow to work with and am a bit brain dead about ideas right now. Throw some ideas of some of your favorite patchwork designs and let me make a list and see just how many I can make up over the winter. I will go on a make the top quest for the next several months and see what happens. I doubt I will make a dent in this fabric windfall of mine. I would love to try however to pull a few pieces from the cabinet before the winter is over. DH told me last night that I should make all my quilts from now on at least queen size just in case he decides to commendeer one of them. Ok folks help me out here. juliasb

How about:

Make a list of quilt design names that you like - or run through some in Quilters' Cache. Then try looking them up (one at a time!) in Google/Images. You will then see a vast array of quilts made up in those patterns.

Eg, I wanted to check something on Blooming Nine Patch and even the first page alone was mouth-watering. . In message , juliasb writes

You forgot the PIMP warning!

Butterfly (sure glad my cuppa was down or you'd be doing the cleaning this AM)

She has some great scrappy patterns, and she also has a way to tame those scraps and pieces less than a yard.

Thank you, Susan. That was a very nice way to wake up and enjoy my morning coffee. The scrappy quilts and her no nonsense approach are delightful. Maybe even inspiring. Polly

Thank you so much for that link Susan. I have been trying to figure out what to do with the drawers full of scraps that I have accumulated but I have had a major imagination failure crisis lately. From all the ideas and encouragement that I have gotten on here lately my imagination is slowly coming out of hibernation again though. This link is fantastic.

It has taken me 3 summers, but I finally emptied my "scrap bin". I don't use all of Bonnie's scrap saver sizes, but I do have bins of 2" squares, 1

1/2", 2", 2 1/2". 3 1/2" strips and 3 1/2" and 5" squares. Whenever the bins get fairly full, I look to see what I can make with them. I also head to my "scrap strip" containers whenever a pattern calls for strips of my saved sizes. I try to use up my pre-cut pieces before cutting any new ones. I use 2 plastic shoe boxes and 2 large square containers, so they store neatly in either of my sewing rooms, (Florida and Kingston ON). I have made over a dozen scrappy quilts since starting the system, and now take the time to cut any small leftovers after I am finished each project.
