Ping-BBL-aka Phyllis also Miz Sairey

Hi,

Does anyone know how to contact Phyllis aka Big Bear Lady, Queen of the Travelogues [the original]?

Also a request to catch up with Miz Sairey, here e-mails are bouncing back. I know where she lives in Las Cruses, but would like her e-mail also.

If so could you contact me privately.

Thanks Sandi in New Westminster B.C. aka the second Queen of the Travelogues for those who remember.

Howdy! I've missed you all. Sandi, I was just telling my daughter in law about the time I visited you in B.C. and what a gracious hostess you are. That was a great trip and I enjoyed meeting all the ladies. I have been busy the last couple of years....but not doing as much quilting as I should! I have been cruising to some really interesting places all over the world. But age is creeping up and I'm not as able as I once was! I still enjoy life, though living alone since my husband died 3 years ago. My little yorkie keeps me company. My last quilt was a large lap size that I made for my hair stylist. She really needed a hug quilt and was amazed that I made it just for her. The best part is that she loved the colors. Of course I just machined quilted it, since I don't do the hand quilting that Ragmop does. By the way, she emailed me your posting, having found me through one of my listings for my vacation rental cabin ads online. I used to have two rental cabins in Big Bear Lake, CA, (therefor BigBearLady), but I sold one and now just keep the one. It is a lot of work, but a labor of love. I really enjoy it when I can go up for several days at a time and take along a quilting project.

This winter has brought Big Bear lots of snow for the skiers (5 feet of snow in less than a week). That is the most snow I've seen up there since I bought the first cabin in 1991. I no longer shovel it myself! The weather in Palm Springs.....full time home....has been great the last few days. Today is 75 F and beautiful blue skies.

Our local quilt shop in Palm Springs closed a couple of years ago, due to the death of the owner. But the store manager opened a new shop in Palm Desert, but that is about 20 minutes away, so I don't stop in as often. Besides, I had gathered so much stash before my husband retired that I need to live to be 300 to use it all. Of course it is always fun to find something new to add to the stash!

I too have been wondering how Sairey is and lots of others. Now that I have found the newsgroup, I think I need to stop in more often. When I tried to search for it today, I could only find it in German! Yikes, that wasn't helpful. But I backed out part of the web address and there you all were in English. Now, that will work.

By the way...when are you going to visit me in Palm Springs? I still have a guest room, you know!

Howdy!

Yeee-Haw!

I go out hunting, and look what I find! Must be using fresh bait!

BBL, it's great to see you again. The addy I had was from the last time we talked, and there you still are. I used the cabin in the woods addy for back-up, and there you are! Awesome!

Sandi, I sent your note to Sarah & BBL; they both responded right away. Sarah is in LC, counting her grandsons. Tho' separated by miles, and proclaiming herself not the typical "grandma", she's doing fine w/ these boys, esp. as they get older. If you really want the update on her, check out the RCTQ Baseball Swap, which is in full Sign-Up mode right now:

You can play, or you can watch from the dugout as some of us do. ;-> Meanwhile, back at the ranch, it's a great day for mowing the yard, mulching the leaves, chatting on the ng, or even putting the binding on a quilt! I have my BBL hug (Phyllis machine-quilted this beauty

11 yrs ago!) close at hand, pulled up pics of your cabin (cottage)

and find myself thinking, hmmmmm.... Good to see you early RCTQers checking in; don't stay away so long!

Cheers! Ragmop/Sandy - thinking this quilters' newsgroup is a pretty good idea

p.s. B-fly- how's the new place?

Still settling in. Boxes and more boxes....fortunately they will be reused by a friend in their near future. They're moving 'back north' after 9 years of being here. Grandkidlets are there.

Butterfly (Tomorrow I find out if I can stop wearing das boot)
