Ping: Polly Esther

Don't know whether you get the Lola comic strip in your daily funnies:

But, here's today's funny:

------------------------------------------------------- Two elderly type ladies sitting on a park bench:

Lady #1: Here comes Polly Lady #2: And her friend Esther

Lady #1: I swear they hang out together just so people are forced to say . . . .

Lady #1: Polly, Esther Lady #2: Hey, that's cute!

How true that is about bumper sticker brains - good description, I like that! I sent out a newsletter about 10 days ago. Here's the first part of the newsletter:

---------------------------------- September Nyssa Blanket Day Cancelled . . . . . Marilynn's Pickets and Patchwork will be closed on September 9 so they can go to the John Day Quilt Show. We have cancelled our Project Linus Blanket Day scheduled that day. Next scheduled Blanket Day at Nyssa will be November 11, 2011. Hope to see you there.

----------------------------------- A friend/volunteer (retired elementary school principal) called all excited because she thought we weren't going to be having Blanket Days at that store anymore at all. My answer to her, "You didn't read the whole thing, did you?" Actually, she didn't even read the headline!

Lola is one of my favorites on the comic page. She is written by a local guy (lives in Boise). I think Lola has been picked up by quite a few papers throughout the nation. Sometimes he'll throw something into one of the strips that only local people will catch the reference.
