Ping Sandy

I'm thinking you need to show Betsey (expecting a new Bernina soon) how to join the Bernina group. Mostly I have no idea what they're talking about but I enjoy the company. Polly

Howdy!

This Sandy says: Get a Janome.

"nothing sews like a Bernina" (when it sews): thank goodness, 'cause nothing else acts like that, either. LOL!!!

Ragmop/Sandy - yeah, I said it, & I stand beside it ;-D

I'll stand with you - I'm a Janome fan too. :)

But on the other hand, the most important part is being able to translate the project in your mind's eye into a finished project....so everyone should go with whatever machine works best for them.

Howdy Sandy, I feel about janome like you do about Bernina. If I could get my money back for this 6600 here I'd take it and run. We just don't get along. Much like you and Bernina if it performed like it should we would do ok. I do get along well with my Janome serger but it works perfect. I'm curious what Bernina models you don't get along with or just generally they all stink for you?. I remember Debbi had a bernette from hell but I wouldn't call that a real bernina. My old 930 is probably the best machine I will ever own. I love that thing. Taria

Of course, I don't *have* a Bernina. After reading/watching/hearing about them for 20+ years, I just wouldn't. No money invested in that direction, so I have no complaints about any of them. Have never heard as many complaints about any other machine, tho', as about the Bernies. "Danger, Danger, Will Robinson!" LOL

But, w/ any machine, drive what you like, like what you drive. The Janome works for me; that's what I'm backing. ;-D

I don't know much about the newer Bernina machines so I just wondered if they were causing issues. Only time I hear complaints from Bernina owners is at classes when they don't know how to use a new machine. That happens with all makes though. Operator error is really high on new machines, especially with all the whiz bang fancy models. Taking a class with a machine you can't run seems kind of silly to me, expecially when they have classes for most higher end ones.

I think a big problem with Janomes is that they are generally well made and most folks don't have problems. When there are problems the company doesn't address them well. I never had Bernina issues so I haven't had to try and deal with them, thankfully.

Here this week I am piecing dresden plates for a grand niece to be. I do each of the grands baby quilts on my grandma's featherweight. Now that is when machines were well made. What a sweet little machine. Each baby that comes along I hope maybe this will be the one that likes to sew. I am looking for someone to appreciate and hand the FW down to. I doubt my Bernina or Janome will be one to hand down.
