question re removing iron transfer marks

do the red marks come out?h ow? I need a treatment that won't make the crimson red embroidery thread run.

this is the first time I used this invention (which is probably really old!): I transferred some pillowcase embroidery patterns from an older looking package I bought at my guild's retreat sale table by ironing but wanted to modify them to have them adequately fit the space where I wanted to use them - a WH 'antique' irish chain (fabric is antique, never finished, I remade the blocks since it originally had very two different kinds of red fabric in it, one of much lower quality and which ran like crazy. bottom line is that some lines that I didn't mean to transfer made it onto the white fabric and are not going to be embroidered over (my mom is doing the embroidery...)

I'm afraid the answer is 'probably not'. Some iron on transfers can never be removed; some will bleed. Here in my sewing room there are some dressmaker's carbons, some commercial iron on patterns and some iron on pencils. All of them are okay for a Trick or Treat costume but I wouldn't trust any of them to be removable or stable. Not good news, I know. You could try diluted bleach but then you get into 'how do I stop the bleach?' and if it feathers over into the reds, you are in a real mess. I can only personally recommend unstitching the unacceptable design and replacing it. I do have great success with plain old peroxide for steam iron splatters. You could try a little with just a Qtip but your chances on iron on removal aren't good. So very sorry not to be any help except with sympathy, Polly
