Quilt Dimensions

I thought I had the various sizes for twin, full, queen, etc. somewhere. I obviously put it where I could find it again (VBG). I thought there was a website with all this useful info, but I can't remember that either. I think I'm overthinking my grandson's quilt. I decided the pattern that I chose was too difficult so I'm thinking of changing to a Square in a Square. The pattern I had originally chosen is in a Quilt It For Kids magazine that I just bought. The quilt is called On the Move. I just don't want to make all the triangles. My only problem is I have fussy cut 32 5.5 inch squares, and 31 4 inch squares. I just want something simple. I am open to suggestions for anything else easy using what I have. Sherry Starr

I have several wall hangings that have seen their best days, and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions as how they could end their life???

Thanks all!!

Here is a copy of a post that shows up here frequently, from "Tim & Jill Pochik" :

"I make quilts for the animals at shelters to sleep on and they love ugly fabrics. I can use any type of fabric as long as it is washable. So, if anyone has scraps or ugly fabric which could use a good home, I would love to have it. I will be happy to pay for shipping. Thank you. The animals and I greatly appreciate the help."

I'm sure they could use your completed worn wall hangings.

You can also check the batting sites for sizing:

As for the squares that you have, just start sewing them together; don't make it difficult, have fun with them!

You could always do what my grandmother did when she made me a baby quilt (this was back in 1972)...shee took the old quilt and used it as the batting in the new quilt. I don't think she thought ahead because the dang thins is *way* too heavy to put on a small child, but not bad for a play-on, floor quilt.

Outstanding site! Thanks for sharing. I am trying to rebuild my favorites which were wiped out during my recent PC crash.

Thanks, Jeanne. I've been rebuilding slowly. I thought I had a backup of my favorites, but apparently did not. I don't know what I'm missing - the world hasn't stopped turning yet so I guess there wasn't anything too valuable in my files. But I sure backup more often now and keep this file and my Outlook Express files on a floppy as separate files rather than including them in my normal backups.

One big help is doing the FabShopHops. Get to visits lots of great places and find some very useful sites.

My Xena quilt ended up being wider than it is long. It is intended as a snuggle quilt, with room for 4 children plus me to snuggle. DH's snuggle quilt is big enough for him plus one big kid, or him plus twins. I measured him when he was stretched out asleep in his recliner.

I am the original poster to this thread......... yes, the WH's are getting a bit faded, but then there are some that I am just tired of! I thought maybe cut them up and make tote bags out of them???? (they aren't faded THAT bad!)

Wow I did a beg and didn't even mean to! Now someone can send me a quilt that they didn't mean to and we'll all be even! LOL

AMEN to that, Diana! Here I thought I was the only one who always needs to make a queen sized top for a double bed because of our QI. ME-Judy

Even an 8lb. QI takes up the space of a 100lb Lab. I think she grows during sleep and shrinks back at dawn. lol

....or they might make good lap quilts for those in wheelchairs.
