Santa didn't bring any LQS gift certificates or quilt calendars but he brought lots of Chocolate and a new computer. My eight year old computer was groaning from information overload. Between the digital photos and EQ files that have filled the poor old gal she was taking forever to boot. This new computer has eight times the memory. My personal challenge for the new year will be to better organize my photos. I have several questions on how others organize their photos but will post those separately.
Lovely Susan! We got some nice quilty gifts--my mom and I--a rotary blade sharpener, an iron rest that attaches to the ironing board, quilt stencils, and scrap bag of fabric. Doesn't get much better than that!
Always nice to have a new computer. I got a gift certificate to the quilt shop in the town I grew up in, and a cute Moda Charm pack, called Birdie, I think. Lots of cheerful blues, pinks greens and yellows. Visions of projects are dancing in my head.
I got a lovely basked of assorted True Blue products from Bath and Bodyworks. I think that qualifies as a quilty gift. Santa must have noticed how horribly dry and cracked my hands look. They always get that way after I've done a lot of handquilting.
I chose a serger for my quilty gift. I think I want to try some napkins and some children's clothes for the Grand babies. I am making a wall-hanging for my brother and s-in-law. The top just needs one more border, then quilting and a few more embellishments. Will post pic soon.
I don't use my serger like I used to but golly they are terrific to have when you need them. Great gift.
I feel a bit of a failure. DD didn't know what to give me and decided to get me cooking toys/gadgets since I 'have everything I need for quilting already'. I couldn't believe she said that. Who could ever have everything they need for quilting already? I clearly need to re-train her. Taria

I was really surprised to get a pattern for tablerunner and placemats, some charm squares, and an organizer to hold all my handquilting supplies. Plus some rotary blades and a beautiful blue batik in my stocking. Yeah! Can't wait to get home so I can start quilting.
well, we didn't do much in the way of gifts this year...... everyone is so tight on money. sigh However, when I went to ransom my #1 from the sewing machine hospital they had some (3!!!!) Viking 6000 series machines that had been traded in. I used to have a 6460 that I loaned to someone I thought was a friend... and never saw it again. So, we had enough in the bank at that point and DH told me to go ahead and get one. So I have finally replaced my mechanical machine.
I did give some quilty gifts.... Got a bit of a scold from my sister who said "Didn't you hear me when I said 'No Gifts, except for the little kids?" (It just isn't Christmas if I don't give gifts to people. ) Since I coordinate 2 Bag Lady Clubs each month, that is at least 24 bags a year. And I also had lots of smallish class sample quilts..... so I let all the adults that wanted one choose both a bag and a quilt. And got a pile of them out of the way. And to homes where they will be used and appreciated. We called it "a Christmas Unwrapped" since I didn't wrap anything.

Nope, no arguements at all. All my in-state family is fairly easy- going and have different tastes. However I was surprised that my oldest nephew (who is 28, or so) chose the quilt that I originally meant to be a baby quilt for one of my grand-nephews.
It was fun to see who chose which quilt.
Pati, > Like your idea of letting people choose their favorites. Were there
I teach at 2 shops. Each has several "clubs" which are about 2-3 hours long for a set price and meet (almost) every month on the same day. (One shop does clubs at $10 per session, one is $5) Bag Lady Club meets and works on a different bag each month. I try to keep the bags fairly simple so they can be finished in class. There is pre-class work to do in order to accomplish this but those that attend each month learn this and usually leave with a finished, or nearly finished bag. It can be lots of fun.
