Quilt retreat response

Hi all

Life has been crazy the last couple of days with Parent/Teacher conferences until 7:30 Monday night and then picking up our young friend yesterday evening for another overnight and out to school this morning and then back to his home this evening.

So. . . . here is a general response to everyone. Thank you so much. Why can't we just teleport like on Star Trek and have a quilt retreat with all of you. I think that that would be absolutely lovely with all of your responses.

I talked with our secretary yesterday and she of course had so much fun and will let me know about the next one and I will hopefully be able to go. All of your advice about what to bring and what to do and everything else is all being filed away and I'm going to start a list of projects to take and tools and everything. I'm excited already.

No worries about all the lady talk. While my parents were/are somewhat conservative, there never was a question that I couldn't ask that they wouldn't answer. And, I worked my way through college in restaurants and banquet services and most of the employees were women and I've heard just about every female topic and problem and event imaginable discussed. I don't really think anything would curl my toes at this point in my life. I can always just put my headphones on and turn my iPod up, can't I.

And I can always wait for all the ladies to finish using the facilities and then put up a "Guy in here" sign on the door and have my 15 minutes.

So, I'm going, whenever and wherever. Bert is already shaking his head. He thinks I'm crazy. But, oh what heaven, four days of nothing but sewing and quilting. It's sort of one of those Calgon moments I think.

Please explain a Calgon moment to a confused Englishwoman. Over here Calgon is a lime descaler that you put in your washing machine.

You put Calgon (brand name) in the bath tub and get in and relax. On the commercial you see the lady in the tub (pure bliss) and outside the bathroom you see the kids going wild. Barbara in FL

But remembering the Calgon ads really shows how old we are.

Calgon is the brand name of bath salts. There is a commercial where a lady's family is going nuts outside the bathroom. She pours the salts in the tub saying "Calgon, take me away." Then she climbs into the tub and looks blissfuly happy, with her family left to their own devices.

But you know, I haven't seen a Calgon commercial on TV for years and years. Now I wonder if it made any more.
