Haven't been on here for a long while, but just had to tell you all about the show in Slidell, LA. No pictures as my camera went bonkers.
The quilts were all so beautiful. Real eye candy. Mostly machine quilted although a hand quilted one won second place.
A lot of trupunto and applique this year. I saw a half dozen quilted jackets, mostly silk or dupeoni ( I think that's how you spell it) All hand stuffed trupunto. The jackets have to be seen to be appreciated. Most of the quilts were queen size or King. One was hand embroidered and was started when the lady evacuated because of hurricane Katrina.
One quilt that caught my eye was of Colonial Ladies and the sashing, if you want to call it that, was small patchwork blocks made of feed sacks. What an original.
This show is put on by the Gulf Coast Quilters Association. (Not a member just love their work). This assocation includes all the states on the Gulf of Mexico. The show will continue through tomorrow.
One sad note our little quilt shop is going out of business, Bo-Ho-Ho. Damn the economy for interferring with quilting.
