Quilting McHeadbands Gone Bananas- it's DONE!

I finished "My Hip-py Horse-pital" quilt at 4:38 a.m. this morning.... and just in time. ;-) We leave tomorrow (Tuesday) for Jefferson City (a three hour drive), will have a lovely dinner and spend the night at a motel. Sometime Wednesday (they haven't called yet with the time for my surgery) I will have my 4 y.o. hip replacement re-replaced. This one will be a bit more involved than the first replacement. That leg is 2.5 in. longer due to polio and the surgeon will be shortening my leg. I'll be "normal" for the first time in my life! I'll have to learn to walk all over again... my center of gravity will be different and I'll have to learn to put my foot down further than I am used to. I'm totally bamfoozled with thinking about it- what a miracle! I'd sure appreciate any prayers and/or good thoughts you can send my way tomorrow.

When I read my books about free motion quilting they all said that I would develop a style of my own. Well, Diane Gaudynski taught me headbands and bananas and Karen McTavish taught me McTavishing. So, I quilted headbands in the borders but they seemed to go more in the direction of McTavishing and when I got myself into a predicament, I just banana'ed my way out of it.

*My* personal style is McHeadbands Gone Bananas"! Here's the photos of the finished quilt-

I'll be busy the rest of the day and then in the hospital for 3-6 days, so I'll talk to you later- prolly next week. My Hunky Mr. Collins will be letting several rctq'ers know how I am doing and I imagine someone will post his message- or parts of it??? LOL

Y'all be good and get lots of quilting done so you can entertain me with photos when I'm back and recovering. You'll know it's me cuz I'll be strutting instead of limping! VBEG

Looks great!

That hurts just thinking about it! I was researching knee surgery, and that sure motivated me to do ALL my PT, so I don't have to go through that.

Normal is SO overrated. At least, that's *my* excuse. ;-)

Yee haw!

Leslie, you be careful now with all that Happy Dancing and the new hip.... could end up being a bit dangerous! Seriously, lots of good wishes and prayers for a good outcome to your surgery. Let us know when you're all awake and feeling perky again.

And the quilt is amazing.

Just take whatever prayers and good thoughts you need. I'll be doing loads of both for you. Do what the men in white coats tell you, take all your medicine and get back to us just as soon as you can. I hope it will be a rip-roaring success. Tell the surgeon, this time, to use stronger glue >g< We don't want you back there in another few years.

The horse-pital quilt looks simply marvellous; all the varied quilting in it is so eye-catching and clever, and don't those black borders look great (you were a bit doubtful about the variegated thread, but it's stunning). The whole should make your heart sing. Well done you. It's beautiful. . In message , Leslie & The Furbabies in MO. writes
