Not a lot of quilting so far today, mainly cutting out the background, sashings and borders for a 24" wall hanging I've found myself doing for our Womens Institute entry in the Suffolk Show in May. (Can be any medium but as we don't have any woodworkers or metal workers among us quilting seemed the most straightforward!)..

It has to be a hanging for a child's room. I'm keeping it fairly simple and doing a farm in 4 blocks - pigs, sheep, cows and chickens, with a big scarecrow too. 24" isn't very big. Thought of pockets and things but as the display tent is pretty damp am avoiding anything that might sag. Some of the animals might be a bit naughty and cross their boundaries and I'm putting some nice bright butterflies, etc. somewhere I have a stumpwork ladybird so might put that in somewhere.

I know they will be very strict on construction and neatness so will concentrate on that. Tomorrow I'll get the background sewn and then I can start on the applique (half prepared).

It has to be ready to hang (no menti> Thanks Sally, that was lovely! Happy New Year to all!
